DLNR Closes Kaumahina Wayside For Repairs

KAHULUI — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) has temporarily closed Kaumahina Wayside along the Hana Highway pending repairs of the park comfort station.

The closure is expected to last at least one week.

The new comfort station, which just opened for public use in March, 2006, replaced the comfort station that was destroyed by fire on March 10, 1998.

Kaumahina Wayside is located along Hana Highway (Highway 360), approximately 28 miles east of Kahului Airport—a two-hour drive. It is a forested rest stop on 7.8 acres, with picnicking, showy exotic plants and scenic viewpoints of the northeast Maui coastline.
