DLNR To Close Pu'u 'Ualak'a Park Early On New Year's Eve

HONOLULU — The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) will close the entrance gate to Pu‘u ‘Ualaka‘a (Round Top) State Park, early, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2006 (New Year’s Eve).

“We are closing the park early to discourage use of fireworks, which is prohibited in state parks, and to protect the public and natural resources of the area,” said DLNR chairperson Peter Young.

The park will resume normal hours on Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, opening at 7 a.m. and closing at 6:45 p.m.
