DLNR Reopens Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve
After Successful Ordnance Removal

HONOLULU-- The Department of Land and Natural Resources reopened the Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve and La Perouse Bay by 3 p.m. this afternoon after successful completion of disposal of four pieces of unexploded ordnance by the 706th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company from Schofield Barracks.

“We appreciate the expertise and support of the Army’s 706 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company to assist us in safely disposing of old unexploded ordnance that was recently discovered in the reserve,” said Laura H. Thielen, DLNR chairperson.
