Publications

Published Reports

Various reports are published by Commission staff on a range of topics related to the study and assessment of Hawaii's water resources. For reference purposes, the Commission staff now assigns a publication reference (PR) number to all posted documents. Each PR number is comprised of a 4-digit year (e.g., 2003), followed by a sequential 2-digit number for the order in which the publication is produced (e.g., 01, 02, 03...). Older documents were usually assigned a sequential report (R) number (e.g., R1, R2 , R3...).

Hawaii Division of Hydrography Bulletins

The Hawaii Division of Hydrography Bulletins contain the first comprehensive and detailed studies of the geology and ground water resources of the (then) Territory of Hawaii. The main author of this remarkable series was Harold T. Stearns, a geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey for more than 20 years. The Bulletins have long been out-of-print, but are still important references for anyone working in the field of Hawaiian geology.
