Aloha and Welcome to
Hawaii's
The Division of Forestry and Wildlife and the Division of Aquatic Resources within the Department of Land and Natural Resources took the lead in developing Hawaii's CWCS. In order to prepare its CWCS while meeting the deadline of October 1, 2005 , Hawai'i sought public participation in the planning process and built upon and expanded existing partnerships to pull together the needed information, to develop scientific recommendations for conservation action in this State, and to enlarge the support needed to implement the Strategy. Hawaii's Strategy identifies Species of Greatest Conservation Need and their affiliated habitats. It includes strategies for addressing those needs and the conservation of the diversity of species. The Hawai'i CWCS website will be used to provide up to the minute information and progress on implementation and continued development of our Strategy.
