| Description: | Underwater herb with stems 1-20' long; small, oblong leaves with toothed margins, in whorls of 4-8 at stem joints; inconspicuous flowers; and fruits not formed. |
| Risk areas: | Freshwater lakes, ponds, ditches, canals, marshes, and slow-moving streams. |
| WARNING: | Arrives in Hawaii as a contaminant with other aquatic ornamentals. Capable of forming dense mats that choke water bodies, this plant does not form seeds but proliferates by vegetative growth. |
