| Other names: | jelecote pine, patula pine, pino triste |
| Description: | Tree 60-100' tall, with reddish scaly bark on the upper trunk; fine, drooping 6-10" needles, usually 3 per bundle; and clusters of 2-4" slightly curved seed cones. |
| Risk areas: | Moist forest and subalpine shrubland, 3000-8000 ft. elevation. |
| WARNING: | Several species of pines are widely planted for reforestation in the tropics. Their wind-blown seeds allow them to spread easily, and three species have become a problem in Hawaii. |
