State-owned lands provide a rainbow of recreational opportunities. The Na Ala Hele Trail and Access program maintains trail that help support recreational activities such as fishing, hiking, camping, hunting, picnicking, and nature photography.

The Division's Hunting program develops and manages public and private land for game birds and mammals. The program enables residents and visitors to enjoy recreational hunting. Some residents also participate in subsistence hunting. In addition to providing food and sport, hunting helps protect native forests.
