Safe Community Program

Staff of the Safe Community Program are available to work with interested community groups statewide to establish a Safe Community Program in their neighborhood. The staff will help you determine whether the best solution to a safety problem is education, engineering or enforcement, or a combination.

The staff can help you gather crash data, define the problem, develop programs to resolve the problem and network with existing community resources. Grants amounting to $2,000 each are also available to Safe Community groups to carry out their programs.

Safe Community groups exist statewide and have been effective in finding solutions to speeding, pedestrian and bicycle safety, correct child safety seat usage, and other issues.
